Does it cost anything to list a room on Flatmate?
Publishing a photo listing costs 2 credits, or 5 credits with a video. Adding a video later costs 3 credits. Editing, pausing and reactivating an existing listing are free, and so is browsing. New accounts start with 10 free credits.
Who sees my listing?
Members searching in your city, and anyone who finds the listing through search. Your address is never shown. On the website, names are shortened and photos blurred, so your identity stays inside the app.
How do I avoid time-wasters?
Starting a chat costs the sender 2.5 credits, which is enough to stop one-word scattergun messages. Every request arrives with a profile showing budget, preferred areas and whether the person is ID verified, so you decide before you reply.
Can I list a room if I am a tenant, not the landlord?
Yes, and most rooms on Flatmate are listed exactly that way, by someone already living in the flat who wants to split the rent. Check your own tenancy allows it before you advertise.
How much should I charge?
Price against what sharers budget for a room, not against whole-flat rents. Each city page shows the range members searching there actually set, so you can pitch inside it rather than guessing.
